Bosch

Bosch Home Comfort focuses on inverter-driven systems for the US market. Its flagship residential unit is the IDS Premium Connected inverter ducted split heat pump rather than a straight air conditioner.

Bosch does not lead its US residential range with a conventional air conditioner. Instead, Bosch's flagship ducted system is the Inverter Ducted Split (IDS) Premium Connected heat pump, which both cools and heats. This review reflects the real published specifications for that inverter system on the newer R-454B refrigerant.

Efficiency and Compressor Technology

Bosch centers its ducted lineup on inverter technology rather than fixed-speed compressors. Bosch rates the IDS Premium Connected heat pump at up to 20 SEER2 for cooling and 9.5 HSPF2 for heating in its R-454B version.

Bosch describes the system as using a fully-modulating inverter drive that adjusts compressor capacity to match the load. Bosch states the IDS Premium Connected uses R-454B, an A2L lower global warming potential refrigerant, and runs as low as 60 dBA outdoors.

Warranty Coverage

Bosch ties warranty registration to its connected app for the IDS Premium Connected. Bosch states the system provides up to 10 years of protection on parts and up to 2 years on gateway connectivity components.

Field-installed components carry a shorter term. Bosch states that all field-installed components carry a standard one-year parts warranty.
